Ainsley Stephens, MS, A-LPC/MHSP, NCC

Supervised by Dr. Herscher

BS, Psychology, minor in Human Services, University of Georgia
MS, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, University of Tennessee

Hi, I’m Ainsley! I am a therapist with my Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

My passion for working with children and adolescents inspired me to pursue specialized training in human development, trauma counseling with children, child-centered play therapy, and grief counseling. I have experience in both private practice and school-based settings, where I have worked with clients of all ages on concerns such as depression, anxiety, grief, and anger management. In a school internship, I provided child-centered play therapy (CCPT) to children in Pre-K through 2nd grade, supporting those exhibiting high levels of aggression through a therapeutic play-based approach.

I take a person-centered approach to counseling, grounded in the belief that every individual has the capacity for healing and growth. I collaborate with clients to meet them where they are in their journey and tailor the counseling process to their unique needs and goals. When working with children, I primarily utilize child-centered play therapy, an approach that recognizes play as a child’s natural form of communication and a powerful avenue for healing. I strive to create a counseling space that is supportive, accepting, and empowering, where clients feel heard and valued.

Megan Sturgill, MA

MA, Counseling and Human Development, Dual concentration – clinical mental health counseling and school counseling, Radford University

Hi – I’m Megan! – It is my belief that every person has value and a desire to be seen, heard and understood. However, life happens and we often struggle at some point. I welcome those who are willing to look into their past and present to be able to help shape a future that feels authentic to them and their beliefs. I am particularly attuned to those experiencing grief, loss and anxiety. Working with children and helping them navigate big emotions while learning confidence and compassion is also at the core of who I am.
I believe strongly in seeing each person as a “whole” instead of “parts” and I utilize the Internal Family Systems theory to help you understand the how and why behind many of your behaviors, beliefs and actions. By helping you understand that there are no “bad” parts and everything is connected helps you to gain more insight to your true self.
I am a counselor with 22 years of experience and my passion for helping others has never lessened. I welcome each individual with an open mind, always striving to meet you just where you are without judgement and I strive to be a safe space for those in marginalized communities. If you feel I could be a fit for you, please reach out.
